Electrochemical dealloying in a magnetic field – Tapping the potential for catalyst and material design

Nanocatalyst optimisation through electrochemical dealloying has been employed as a successful strategy to increase catalytic activity, while reducing the need for precious metals. We present here new pathway influence dealloying, external homogeneous magnetic fields. A field with flux density of 450 mT in two orientations, parallel or perpendicular current direction, was used during using cyclic voltammetry AgAu nanoparticles. found increased porosity low cycle numbers and improved properties after longer cycling, compared nanoparticles dealloyed absence These findings demonstrate that fields applied have currently untapped potential can be material way give researchers another powerful tool design.
